The exhibition series Who Was the Woman? is located in the western gable room and tells the stories of remarkable women from Skagafjörður in the 20th century.
The series aims to explore the lives and work of women who made a lasting impact on their communities, often without being recorded in written cultural history. Many of these women left behind handcrafted items, which are now preserved by the museum.
The first exhibition in the series features Þóra Rósa Jóhannsdóttir (1903–1990), a shopkeeper. On display are personal belongings and handcrafted items that reflect both her creativity and practicality.
