A visit during off-season
During the off-season (21. October - 31. March), visitors can ring a bell at the ticket office on weekdays between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to check if the museum can be opened. However, it is recommended to book visits in advance to ensure that staff will be available.
Groups
Please book group visits to the museum at least one day in advance via email at byggdasafn@skagafjordur.is or by phone at +354 453 6173. It is possible to book group visits (6+) outside regular opening hours, but these must be booked at least two days in advance. Please note that a special opening fee (15.000 ISK) applies for visits outside of opening hours.

Visitor guidelines
- Backpacks are not allowed in the museum.
- Do not touch the artifacts on display.
- Photography without flash is allowed.
- Permission is needed for drones.
Accessability
Please note that unfortunately there is no wheelchair access inside the turf farm, but you can request to drive up to the turf house to view it from the outside.
The café however is accessible for wheelchairs through the back door, please contact the staff so that they can open the door and install a temporary wheelchair ramp.
