Rapid changes took place in housing and technology in Iceland during the first half of the 20th century. While many had moved from rural areas to towns in the 19th century, the shift from turf houses to timber houses accelerated, and electricity began to spread across the country.
Electrification brought with it a variety of modern household appliances and kitchen tools, making domestic chores and cooking easier.
This small exhibition showcases kitchen devices and utensils from around and after the mid-20th century.
